A new log is currently stuck at the top of Marten’s Rapid on House Rock.
This is a reminder that hazardous wood can move quickly and without warning. Stay alert, scout when needed, and prioritize safety on every trip. If you notice additional hazards, please share updates with the community.
As of Monday, December 22nd, there are two river hazards on the McKenzie that guides, boaters, and river users should be aware of.
Current reported hazards include:
Fish Rock: A large log jam is present and was reported as very difficult to get by.
Milepost 52 (just above the McKenzie Trail): A tree is down across the entire river, creating a full blockage.
These conditions may change with weather and river flow, so please use extra caution if you are on the water and help spread the word to others in the river community. Safety on the McKenzie depends on communication and shared awareness.
We want to keep everyone safe while enjoying the river, so we’re sharing an important update regarding the log jam below Bellinger Landing at the bottom of Powerline Flat. Recently, several new trees have fallen into this area, creating an unpredictable channel that can be challenging for inexperienced boaters. The Sheriff’s Office has strongly advised against using this route, highlighting its technical nature and the potential risks involved. For your safety, we recommend using alternative routes and staying informed about current conditions before heading out on the water. I’m pleased to report that there are no other major obstructions on the McKenzie River at this time. Safe boating!
